We were both architect & engineer for a new state-of-the-art specialist school
This project was completed for the Mahinawa Board of Trustees. The school relocated to a brand new building located on the Mana College site overlooking Porirua Harbour.
Sustainable design principles were an integral part of the original brief and the project was awarded a 5 Star Green Star rating for its design categories.
Key features include:
- Solar hot water heating
- Natural ventilation strategy
- Material selection containing low VOC and ODP levels
- Timber from sustainable sources
- Incorporation of environmental systems design (ESD) learning resources for students in the building and site landscaping.
The project was completed in May 2011.
